Zeroth law of thermodynamics


 The zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two systems are in thermal equilibrium with a third system, then they are in thermal equilibrium with each other. This law establishes the concept of temperature and allows for the creation of a temperature scale. It is called the zeroth law because it was discovered after the first and second laws had already been established.

Why is it called the zeroth law?

What is an example of zeroth law?
If the cup of tea is 80°C and the surrounding temperature is 30°C , the tea will lose its heat until its temperature reaches 30 degrees. Here a hot cup of tea acts like the zeroth law of thermodynamics.
